This has been one of the most stressful weeks I've had in a long time. It has to do with the board of my chorus terminating, before her contract was up, Dr. Doreen Rao.

I cannot say enough good things about this amazing woman. Leader, master teacher, author, editor, open-minded visionary, master choral educator, and director. What the small-minded people who should NOT be in charge (very dysfunctional situation) did to her was unconscionable and despicable. I have been grieving the loss of her for our chorus, our community, our education community and our children, all week. I am not the only one. Everyone I know in the education community, and the music community, is aghast at what has transpired. Under her leadership we have risen to new heights and she had so many plans and ideas to reach out to the community here--to children and adults alike. I'm heartbroken and our chorus is now in a shambles. I feel like I've lost something so precious to me, the one thing that brings me great joy in my life. I was able to sing at the highest level possible--professionally--- under her baton and now that's over. It feels like someone, and definitely something, has died. It's not over. We aren't giving up.
