Louis was raised in in the UK and lives and works as a photographer in London. He used to work in corporate jobs in London, but has left that to pursue his passion fulltime. His work around and of London captures a sense of London from an insider’s perspective. His sense for the timing of a perfect picture differentiates his works from mere reportage. His photographs capture a slice of life in motion, investing them with an unerring presence of a moment and emotion, of London, captured in time.

His photography is influenced by painting, and film. In terms of films, he is influenced by Martin Scorcese, Takeshi Katano, Kurosawa and more recently Christopher Nolan. “My photography has always had a cinematic sense around it, so you could say my photography is more influenced by the world of cinema than that of other photographers in the world. I have great respect and sympathy in equal measure for Salvador Dali, as his abstract and dark/twisted visions are ones I relate to in some of my work. One photographer who I respect greatly is James Nachtway who has covered many war/conflict zones in great depth.” says Martins.

Louis is currently finalising his short film ‘Le Penitent’, which is a short Film Noir (French Language) which he hopes to release in 2013.
