it's a (knitted) poop!

it's a (knitted) poop! by pocket farmer.
When my seven year old nephew, Eric, politely requested that I knit him a poop, I wasn't exactly sure how to proceed. The kid wanted a "plop", but my attempts at that looked more like a deformed Hershey's kiss than anything else.

Kat found a Mr. Hanky pattern, so I used that as a jumping off point for what you see here.

He is going to have so much fun with this, if the fun that two thirty-somethings are having is any indicator. ;)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those who have requested a pattern, here's basically what I did:

CO 6 st. Join to knit in the round. (I used size 7 needles and Plymouth Tweed yarn)
Increase 2 st (8 st total)
Knit around.
Increase 4 st every other row until you have 16 st
Knit 3 rows
Decrease 4 st every other row until you have 8 st
Knit around
Decrease 2 st (6 st remaining)

Take the opportunity to add stuffing before starting the next lobe.

Next row, increase 2 st,
then increase the same way as for the first lobe, except vary slightly by doing more increases,
and/or more plain rows before decreasing.

Knit as many lobes as desired, stuffing as you go.
When you have six st remaining, put yarn on a tapestry needle,
and thread through the stitches.

My 13 year old nephew would love it. So would his 11 year old sister since she calls him "Turd" and poopy-face quite a bit.

OMG, you guys... I've been out all day, and couldn't wait to get back to see the reaction!

I know it's completely horrifying, yet totally awesome at the same time. And he is going to LOVE it.

And the tweed.... I don't have a lot of stash yarn, and saw the tweed in the sale bin at my LYS. I knew it would be perfect. It definitely adds to the grossness! :)

LOL! This is fantastic - and I really, really love your yarn choice! It's almost too realistic, I just do *not* want to know what the tweed ate the day before. ;-)
