Out of Order by David Mach![]() Kingston upon Thames, Greater London - EXPLORE Dec 6, 2007 #274
Just to make it clear, this is a sculpture by David Mach exactly as you see it. I've worked just the B&W. Out of Order, 1989 telephone boxes, steel, concrete 304.8cm x 609.6cm x 1524cm Twelve telephone boxes, first one upright, the rest gradually falling over like dominoes. The upright one should have a working telephone providing a constant public performance with a highly visible landmark for Kingston upon Thames. The telephone boxes are not just a parody of artists minimal boxes they also have a huge public recognition factor. Artform: Sculpture Axis Alternative Uses The classic K6 red phone boxes are no longer confined to the use they were intended for, they can now be bought and transformed into art installations or talking points for the home and garden.
