All Hallows by the Tower (Oldest church in London)![]() ![]() Datesback to the Saxon-era 675AD. One of the church doors is from the 7th Century. It was previously Barking Abbey. People beheaded at the Tower of London were sometimes buried here, including Thomas More in 1535. It survived the Great Fire of London and was famously where Pepys watched it from to record his famous diary entry, however the church but was badly damaged in WW2 and has had some careful restoration.
