Thanks, yeah the Copic markers really helped to bring these to life. I hadn't experimented much with them but I'm pretty sure they will start making into all sketches going forward.

This reminds me of my college days doing marker comps for ad layouts. I think this is a great way to quickly capture ideas and give them color without having to drop into a Mac app to do so. Awesome!
Here's some old marker rendering I did for my senior graphic design presentation with markers pencils and paint on board:
That ended up as a slide in a slide show with audio -- way before Powerbpoint ever existed! :-)

Boy, I can't recall how long that took. Back in college time was endless. But I will say I was really into marker renderings and had gotten pretty quick... I'd guesstimate maybe an hour or two for these (I did a series of them).
You have me thinking about picking up a new set of markers and getting back into marker rendering again man! :-)

Yeah its extremely gratifying to work in markers, not sure what you used back in the day but I've found the Copic markers to work extremely well. I'd love to see any additional marker work you end up doing. What did you use for the white lining on the Leica? Is that a form of chalk?

I dunno if you'll believe this, but that white line is white paint, put on with a brush! In college I had a professor who was really hard core about handling of brushes, and for that I am thankful (but probably a little rusty nowadays).
I'll go through my old portfolio and see what I might have around. Might be fun to scan those into my Flickr account. :-)
Coptics are great and if I recall, Prismacolor markers were also quite good. I liked the markers with a fine/broad tip on either end, since very often I'd need both options while rendering.

It's nice to see how the marker rendering skills can be applied to interaction design sketches. I think you guys make a great point about using copics/primsa colors to highlight and shade different details.
