Dr John Richards Conducts Tuba Christmas

Dr John Richards Conducts Tuba Christmas by planephotoman.
The guy must be over a hundred years old, but keeps showing up at Tuba Christmas to conduct, emcee and hold the whole block hostage with stories, songs and original tunes! He is an icon here in Portland Brass Circles. He was the principle tubist for the Oregon Symphony. Known then as the Portland Symohony. Most everyone in attendance has had some kind of instruction from him. Yes, even me. He was instrumental in my continuing to play a few years ago. Too bad I couldn't play this year....

Congratulations! I love your series of pictures of the Portland Tuba Christmas. I played in a very small (4 people) Tuba Christmas in Boonville, Missouri. We were small but mighty! 8-)

That's great. I try to get to ours every year now. More people show up just to hear it than there are players and their familys.
