Giant Leopard Moth

My daughter found this moth this evening out on our deck and she brought it to me and said "Mommy, I found you a beautiful moth to get pictures of.". And boy was she right!

No it is not dead. I dont know why but everytime I would lightly touch its head, it would do this.

Oh! Pam! This is a beauty. Sounds like your daughter has the same fascination for a bug's life that you do. LOL!

It's beautiful! Great team work there. Your daughter finds, you shot it. :-D
Oh, that sounded bad. You photograph it. That's better!

It sure does look like it's in a submissive posture doesn't it.

Did you let it go free after you "shot" it? Very well done.

Yep! My daughter found it out on our deck and I went and got a piece of paper and put it on my outdoor table. We set the moth down on the paper and there ya go. It was free to fly off anytime it wanted to but it stayed until I was done. Then my daughter picked it up and gave it a nudge and made it fly off.

I absolutely love those moths! Hummingbird moths are pretty too, though even harder to take pictures of.
