Fumarole I

A fumarole in the Myvatn region of Iceland.

Personal note: I'm still alive.

Trial by Fire II

Trial by Fire II

Another ring macro shot... with a bit of fiery kick.

I'm shooting a wedding this weekend! I've gotten in the habit of asking the bride and groom for their rings prior to the ceremony so I can have my fun. I thought that a crucible is an interesting metaphor for marriage.

This image was made on my lab bench using a porcelain triangle, a crucible and a bunsen burner. I have the porcelain triangle mounted to a ring stand using a binder clip and a clamp. The black substance underneath the rings is activated carbon. Due to the nature of this shoot I used a tripod and a cable release in a darkened room.

I am not happy that I'm visible in the reflection but it will have to do for now.

I suppose this dress looks a bit out of place.

An Autumn Portrait

An Autumn Portrait

I took this photo a number of years ago. It was a warm, cloudy day which made lighting conditions quite spectacular for doing outdoor portrait work. One of the nice things about living on a chunk of oak savanna is the abundance of black oak leaves with which to play during the autumn months.
