Rainforest Abstract

Rainforest Abstract

Sometimes it's nice to have a break from the standard landscape and do something a little more arty.

Here the rainforest trees are reflected in the hectic flow of a crystal clear stream. A slow shutter has created the abstract appearance.

I know this kind of shot is not everyone's cup of tea, but I think this would look magnificent hanging as a 60inch metallic in a modern home or office environment.

Fishermen's Ghosts

Fishermen's Ghosts

Landscape photographers and early morning fishermen have long been mortal enemies, as they normally plonk themselves right in front of the photographer's lens.

On this day however, they elected to keep walking and fish from the end of the jetty.... perhaps it was my combat stance and knarly stare that moved them on?

Their movement and the long exposure have combined to create some ghostly figures in the distance.

Twilight Jetty, Carnarvon Bay, Tasmania.

Twilight Jetty, Carnarvon Bay, Tasmania.

Having just arrived and made camp at Port Arthur, we did a mad dash around the local area looking for something to shoot at sunset.

We missed the sunset itself, but thankfully we happened upon this bay and it's wonderful rustic jetties bathed in Tassie's amazing twilight tones.

Nodally rotated multi-image stitch to create the 6x19 format.

HMAS Gayundah

HMAS Gayundah

The wreck of the HMAS Gayundah, on the shores of Woody Point near Redcliffe, Queensland Australia.

Launched 13 May 1884 as a Gunboat, the Gayundah was a proud 120 feet in length and had a displacement of 360 tons. After a several successful roles as a maritime defence vessel, she served a simple life as a sand and gravel barge on the Brisbane River.

Once her working days had come to an end, she was stripped of all valuables and beached on the foreshore of Woody Point to act as a breakwater.

Ghostly Gums

Ghostly Gums

A fire had passed through this area and left just ghostly remains of the trees.

I liked how using the wide angle lens, allowed me to capture the contrasting light and shadow that was being created by the low level sun.
