We found this hairy little guy during a late afternoon hike with the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, on the slopes of Mt. Diablo, CA. After a short intro to the mating habits of the spider we were convinced by our guide, Bob Live, that we could handle the spider without fear!

El Capitan

El Capitan

Clearing storm, El Capitan, Yosemite. This was taken the day after a late season attempt by Hans Florine and Alex Honnold to break the speed climbing record up the 3,000 ft Nose Route of El Capitan.. They aborted their attempt after 4 pitches (out of 30) due to cold weather and worsening conditions. It snowed that night.

The 3,000 ft. Nose Route follows roughly the line between the lowest point of the cliff to the highest point.

Mola Mola

A Mola Mola or Sunfish taken at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This fish seems to be all head. It can get up to 2 tons in size. The tank it is in represents the open ocean environment and it is dimly lit. The photo was taken at ISO 12,800, f/4, 1/45 sec.
