Opening Reception: Friday, April 3 6 -
9pm
The Pittsburgh Glass Center
Neighborhood Mosaic Project is a
collaborative residency and exhibition
between Pittsburgh artist Daviea Davis,
the Pittsburgh Glass Center, local
schools and the community. The two-fold
residency and exhibition will begin in
January 2009.
During the residency Davis will visit
the schools and create community glass
mosaics with students in the classroom.
In PGC’s Hodge Gallery, she will
concurrently integrate the students’
ideas into a 360° glass mosaic panorama
of the unique characteristics and joys
of the City of Pittsburgh.
PGC invites the community to join
Daviea Davis in the gallery and help
create the mosaics. The gallery will be
open during the creation from
mid-January through March 2009. Visit
PGC to meet the artist and join in the
fun:
Tuesday - Friday, 10am - 3pm
The project is sponsored by the
Multicultural Arts Initiative,
Construction Junction and Youghiogheny
Glass.
