2009.146 . Target Practice
We weren't really practicing for anything. Steve just made some targets and we tried out his brother's old BB gun. We managed to hit the target most of the time but rarely hit the bull's eye.
While we were shooting, I pondered the difference between random error and systematic error, as related to accuracy versus precision, topics that I often teach about in chemistry classes. The latter is easier to fix with only slight adjustments. Random error (clearly our malady this day) is remedied only by steady practice and diligent refinement of technique.
