sometimes the perfect bag finds *you*...

sometimes the perfect bag finds *you*... by bitsandbobbins.
i spotted this whilst at the lovely lisa congdon's b-day party over at her and rena's shop. came into my sights and my clutches just as i was looking for a new bag.

by rabeanco, a kind of under the radar bag brand from hong kong.

i love it because it's beautifully made and designed, just large enough for me and my needs (big enough for a book, maybe my camera) and it's decidedly lacking in all that gross metal and hardware so many bags are laden down with these days. understated=cool. also, it's so far from the "it" bag in any way, that it's just perfect for me. and...the price was right. :)

It looks like a very fashionable french bag called "Charlotte" by "Gérard Darel", do you know it ?

eclectic gipsyland: nope, don't know of that bag or the designer you mentioned. googled and found this: www.greluche.fr/post/2007/09/24/Il-ne-doit-en -rester-quun

they don't look very much the same to me...they may have a similar outer shape, but the details are extremely different, in a myriad of ways.

I spoke about the outer shape. This bag has a lot of versions with different details (they change each year) and there is a version which is very similar to yours. I'll try to find a picture...

Very elegant and simple. I don't like a lot of hardware either. By the time you put everything in the bag (including a camera) it starts to weigh you down!

how funny you found the perfect bag only minutes after talking about how picky you are about bags. i'm glad you found each other!

i'm glad you love it :) i am into its squishy hardware-free-ness too. and funny, it was too big for a lot of people in SF actually!

and martha - we have had it in many colors in the past. the last one is in Brooklyn in a soft washed orangey brown that makes me think of sports (a baseball glove/basketball love child) that i dig too. this bag looks great in all colors.

reebob: i totally do. and i am so happy i bought it from your store...it makes it even nicer, in a way. funny other people here thought it too big! i guess i still have a NY'ers idea of a good bag (i.e. probably huge to other people). but then again, my life is exactly the same as it was when in lived in ny (walking everywhere, no car, carrying my life around with me, etc.)
