Do you know who the photographer was? Is this a Dorothea Lange photo?

All the online information I've found so far does not indicate who took the photo. It may be recorded at the FDR library itself. If I find out, I'll add it. If you learn anything, let me know.

cheers

As always, your photos are thought provoking. I appreciate the opportunity to see how fortunate we all are, and am nearly ashamed of complaining about the price of gas while I fill the tank on my guzzler..

There was a exhibit of Depression-Era photographs on exhibit at a local college here recently. Many of the photos you have here of the Great Depression were on display at the exhibit, including this one.

Did this photograph receive the Pulitzer Prize? I think it did.

Not sure, but it is certainly one of the most familiar images. Indeed, I saw entirely by accident last evening blown up to large poster size. If you find out for certain please let us know and add a "pullitzer" tag if you can.

There was an excellent article on CNN.com and 2-DEC-2008 about the daughter on the left in the photograph, Katherine McIntosh, who was 4 when the photo was taken and is 77 now.
