Zion at night.... with a real camera.

After many years of waiting.... I finally had the opportunity to do some nighttime stuff at Zion National Park with a DSLR.

A little over 5 years ago, I was driving through here at night with a couple inches of snow and a full moon. It was aw-inspiring and breathtaking . . . and all I had was my first digital camera (a Nikon Coolpix 5700) and very little photography experience.

Now even though there was no snow, the moon was 90% full and I had an amazing night.

To get this one, I set up the camera, fired a couple of test shots, and then drove with only my park lights on (the head lights were too bright) past the camera once in each direction.

It was a 168 second exposure with a f/7.1 aperture and the ISO speed was 400. The camera was a Canon EOS 40D with the 15mm fisheye.

This is cool, especially since that's your car zooming by.

Big thanks to everyone for looking and taking the time to comment....

      - jrtce1 and McPhloyd , I got to visit Death Valley three nights later - when the moon was full. It was extremely overcast, but still had a great night and got some good stuff.

      - thanks Bob.
