thx mike. With the 40D, I can just press the button and it goes. He fired two rounds and I got a great seqence for both. Just trying to figure out how to display it in one image.

phirleh - I think you close your eyes and pull. also at this angle, it looks like the smoke is right in his face, but I suspect is actually to the right and moving away.
