Surprise

Surprise

I was cleaning our little finches cage today just as I do every day but to my surprise I found a single egg in the little basket nest. The people told me they had eggs before but no babies. They said the birds would line it with fibers etc. I never supplied them with anything to line the nest. Both of them frequently go in it and sit for awhile but there was never any indication that they would be starting a family. I did put some soft batting in the nest and gently returned the egg inside.
I have set my settings to no comments...just wanted to share. Hopefully by next week I will be back posting and commenting as normal.

The age old new year question...

The age old new year question...

...does my butt look big?? ....sorry ...I just couldn't resist :o)
I am also sorry for not being around much lately. I caught a virus about a month or better ago and just couldn't shake it. I have had no energy to go out or do much indoors either. Yesterday I felt better and today I feel worse. Apparently it is going around. C'est le vie! I am enjoying my new birds alot! The happy peeping and little trills they make just make me happy. They seem to recognize me already even with the black flashing box stuck to my face. I will be in and out but I can't promise I will have the energy to comment. Hope everyone is doing good and enjoying life so far in 2012!
To those contacts who contacted me to see if I was still among the living...thanks so much your messages meant the world to me.

Lady FInch

Lady FInch

Tried today to get some better shots of our tiny zebra finches. They don't quit moving lol These tiny birds are maybe four inches long from the tip of the bright beaks to the end of their tail. Soo cute.
They are not loud at all...in fact both my husband and I find the little peeping noises very relaxing.
This is the lady one. The male is in the picture in the comment box.
We need name suggestions for them please
