Lentils and Peas

    Brown and red lentils with split peas. Taken for the Strobist food assignment, Lighting Bootcamp II. This was my second choice. Not entered into the bootcamp pool.

    Strobist info: SB-900 @ 1/40 power into a homemade softbox, top down, with white reflector low in front.

      Very nice! I like the DOF, lighting, and it's an interesting subject.

      Seeing you tagged this with "SBC2ASSIGN2 strobist food" makes me wonder if it really made it into the search for the assignment. I used a tag that was simply "SBC2ASSIGN2". Did you see that yours still made it into the suggested search?

      Nice composition, colors and light. I like the kind of glow behind the edges of the bowl, then the soft grad into shadow. The DOF here hints at a LensBaby or Tilt-Shift kind of look. It's nice. There is something unexpected about that middle-of-the-bowl focus point that I really like.

      agreed with MyArtistSoul - there is something refreshing and unexpected about the dof that adds to the shot. It almost seems to be vibrating. Puts the focus on the lines and patterns rather than the food itself. Nice!
