Brigham City Temple
I had been watching for the storms that the forecast called for all week, and figured last night would be a good night to head out. I am pretty close to having all the Utah Temples completed for the “spring” section of the temple book, and wanted to get Brigham City in, so, I headed up North. I was getting a little discouraged as the storm was moving hard and fast and looked like it might be a bust for sunset. I sat in my car for a bit and pondered just turning around, but decided to sit and wait for a few more minutes. Needless to say, I’m glad I stuck it out. The front moved in just as the sun broke through on the horizon and blew up the sky. I have not seen a sunset like this for a while, so it was a welcome site. I think this will make a good addition to the Spring temple photos.

San Fran from Twin Peaks
I was at the Golden Gate Bridge for sunset, but just wasn’t feelin’ it and wasn’t excited to shoot some of the same old stuff. I had heard about the Twin Peaks overlook from some work friends, and decided it was worth a shot to head over and check it out. I was surprised by what I found, and excited to get a new (to me at least) view of this awesome city.

Muir Woods
Went to SF last week and had the chance to check out the Muir Woods. It’s a pretty awesome place, and humbling to stand amidst these Redwood giants. I was hoping for some overcast/misty conditions, but alas, it was totally clear and sunny. Still, I liked the glow that came through the filtered sunlight of the thick canopy above.

Sunset over the Bountiful Temple
I am working on a project that will include all of the LDS Temples in Utah. Hope to have it done this time next year.

The Zebra
I have been to Zebra slot canyon many times, and the hike seemed pretty easy, and the canyon floor completely dry (people have said it fills up with water all the time) and so I thought that this 4th time around, it would be the same. I was also hoping to get some better light this time as my last few visits all had flat, boring light, so I was determined to get something better. Kevin, Jeff and I started on the trail (keeping in mind the only thing we had to eat in the past 24 hours was a few handfuls of trailmix for me, some oreos for Kevin, and nothing for Jeff, hoping to catch the high sun for some nice reflected light. I, for some reason, was under the impression that the hike was only 1 mile, maybe 1.25 at most. I was wrong. It was actually closer to 3 miles one way, with a large portion walking in deep sand. Needless to say, buy the time we got there, we weren’t too happy. To top it off, the canyon was filled with water up to the knee and we we thought about going back. Persistence won out, and we decided to take the shoes and socks off, role the pant legs up and hike in. Going in barefoot gave a new meaning to the term “slick rock” as it is difficult to get a grip on the canyon walls in bare feet, not to mention painful. I hope the effort was worth it!
