Mammatus Clouds and Barn, Palouse

Newer Older

I have been eying this barn for a while now and the conditions were irresistible, so I had to stop. I've only seen these clouds once before, mid summer, during a massive lightning storm out at Sparks Lake. A pretty cool site. I shot this on my way down to the Palouse to lead a couple of workshops and meet up with the gang already down there with their own group (Zack Schnepf, Kevin McNeal, and Adrian Klein). It was great getting to see my fellow members of PhotoCascadia on my own turf for once!

Due to more strict enforcement of their rules, Flickr has asked me and many others to take down info such as links to personal websites and workshop information. However, it is still allowed to have such information in one's Flickr Profile.

I have only seen such clouds a couple of times myself, but they are amazing and I wish I could see them more often. The atmosphere and colors in this are exquisite.

That's what the clouds looked like the morning of May 18th 1980 in a small Eastern Washington town. I was only 12 but I wished that I had a camera then.

    Great photograph !!!
