Dinner Candles

Dinner Candles by Ramones Karaoke.
Ms Corydora spent hours cooking a quite fabulous candlelit dinner today, but it didn't photograph well enough to do it justice, so I just took a picture of the candles instead.

I like your candles, but I ´d have preferred the pictures of the dinner! Might I have the recipes of it???

Linda - I will have to ask Ms. Corydora - it was a wonderful long, slow baked bean recipe (with about 3 days of soaking the beans) with roast vegetables. And we had rosemary on the vegetables, from our old plant that died a few weeks ago, and she salvaged the herbs.

oohh sounds delicious. Three days of bean-soaking?? That is a dedication unknown to me I'm afraid. Mine get 24 hours if they're lucky or 20 minutes if I've fouled up big time.

Think less dedication, more food indecision - she changed her mind about what she wanted to make for dinner on the 2 previous days, so the beans just soaked and soaked - I'm sure they were all the better for 2 more days' soaking. I suspect soaking for 5 minutes in a pressure cooker is like 3 days normal time if the going gets really tough! Just realized how horrible this new Buddy Icon picture is, I'm going to back to 'Ooh, you don't half look like that foulmouthed chef Ramsey'

This really is a lovely shot - it looks like your fab new cameraphone wasn't the least bit daunted by the low light!

As for the meal, it was really yummy but about as un-photogenic as food could be. I really did enjoy the beans, but found myself wishing that I still had my ancient 1970s slow-cooker (or my yet-to-be-ordered Rayburn!) ;-)

The roast veggies are something I do all winter, but this was the first time I'd done them this Autumn, so they were quite a novelty. I do them very simply, just carrots, potatoes (sweet and regular), parsnips and butternut squash, all tossed in a good olive oil and sprinkled with salt and rosemary, then roasted (without a cover) in a hot oven until they are very soft.

Funny, I was just returning to comment favourably upon your new icon. Beans, alas, invariably end up looking like something the cat regurgitated (at least mine do).
Roasted vegetables - how wonderful they are. One of the joys of autumn.
Very impressed that this was taken with a cameraphone....

Well, we should all be impressed, cos our new cameraphone is SO FREAKIN' COOL that it was advertised throughout the X Factor this week by those comically Oirish-accented Carphone Warehouse folks. Or 'De Caerfone Wurhouse' as voiceover guy would say. Brilliant. And free.

p.s. I do not want any Irish militants gunning for me, I'm a solid quarter Irish on my mum's side and hence am allowed the occasional jibe when voiceover standup guy over-eggs the accent.
