in february i spent a week wandering around the bayou south of houma, louisiana taking some pictures for a non profit called bayou grace that does recovery and other community services. hurricane gustav wasn't quite as strong as advertised, but the area i visited did take the brunt of it, and i was thinking about the people i met and the places i visited a lot today. i'm posting a few photos from the week that i didn't get a chance to post before.
these kids and their uncle had recently had their house raised when i was there, but the area where they live is highly vulnerable to storm surges. i hope they were able to evacuate.
