Canada Goose KMRS 5-14-11 2

A Canada Goose Branta canadensis walks on the grass in Miller-Knox Regional Shoreline in Point Richmond, CA. Taken by a Nikon D40x with a Sigma 70-300 DG non-APO macro lens (at 150) SOOC

These birds are either fairly tame, (but wild...) or very accustomed to non-hunting humans... I could'a picked this one off with a .22... (IF a] I had a hunting license, b] it was hunting season, and c] I wasn't in a hunting dis-allowed park!)

Wild Turkeys in Albany?

Wild Turkeys in Albany?

On December 27, 2011 these Wild Turkey Meleagris gallopavo intermedia hens were seen in my neighbor's backyard on the 1000 block of Kains Avenue in Albany, CA. Turkeys, possibly these same individuals, have subsequently been seen on rooftops on the same block... on Jan 30, 2012 (the date this was posted) several toms and a whole flock of hens (maybe including these two...) were seen on the block... Taken by a Nikon N75 with a Promaster 7 100-400mm lens (at 400) on Fujicolor Superia Xtra 800. Camera's on-board flash fired. (How much good that did at this range [~50 feet] is debatable...) Negative scanned into computer by an HP G4010. Dust removal, gamma and color correction done in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. This is a full-negative scan...

Note that these birds are fully capable of being eaten, but the problem is catching 'em - shooting with a gun is out of the question in this densely populated (by people) area! (bow and arrow is a possibility...)
