Turkish Armenian journalist murdered

Turkish Armenian journalist murdered by petit1ze.
I thought about if I should put these photos and make a political statement here in flickr. But Hrant Dink, an Armenian origin Turkish journalist, who was shot on a busy street in the middle of Istanbul in daylight, was a great man, a very brave man, a very good journalist and a real humanitarian. I am so deeply upset because of his death. It made a mark, a pause, a permanent scracth in my and hundreds of thousands of people's lives. I felt i would not be able to continue adding photos here and unless i had inserted these and showed my respect and agony.

This photo is from a demonstration participated by thousands to protest his murder a few hours after his death. The banner says 'Thinking (idea / opinion / thought) can not be killed.'

Many thanks for the photos petit1ze. I share your sentiments there. I've heard this shocking news on the BBC World Service radio the other night, and it was broadcast as the first news item. It is very very sad and upsetting indeed. I haven't had heard of Hrand Dink before, but now that I am reading about him, he was a brave man indeed. A great defender of free speech, and peace. Needless the say, I agree with the banner there.

The forces of intolerence are spreading daily. It is heartbreaking that there are some who want to return up to the Dark Ages and do it by attacking the best and brightest amongst us. At least the fact that so many people were willing to stand up publically and speak out against this vile act shows that there's still hope. My thoughts are with you and Turkey.
