de vere's, davis

After last night's talk anout the Art of Urban Sketching, my very tired throat needed a rest. I popped into De Vere's, which was very noisy with lots of other people talking instead of me.I was there to draw - after talking about drawing for almost two hours i couldn't then not draw something. I had a couple of pints, and drew this. And it was pretty crowded around me at that bar, let me tell you.
I washed the page first in yellowy/orangy-brown to represent the light of the bar, and then drew over that in uniball signo pen.

Well done! The detail is impressive. My uncle's name was De Vere, so the title caught my eye.

Gorgeous sketch, Pete, especially given your working conditions! :) Your drawings are always a delight.

Excellent sketch--wonderful atmosphere and I also love that curving perspective. It takes serious concentration to do this, especially in those conditions--Bravo!

Thanks everyone! And yes, it took some concentration, but i got myself into a mental zone, so I was quite serene despite the craziness around me. It was the good reliable pen, it makes all the difference.
