      I don't know, this doesn't look like other Indian Triggerfish photos on the internet, and it looks much closer to the Pinktail Triggerfish shown at www.wetwebmedia.com/marine/fishes/triggers/melichthys/ind... Pinktail would also be more likely to be found around Maui according to that document.

      Maybe you are right.......it looks more like tthe pinktail....this example laks the normally outspoken red/rose color.............there is also a melichthys ringens...but this one has a convex tail with points.
      it's very confusing after all.......this family of the triggerfishes has not much species but a lot of different colorshemes after all..........
      there is still a lot of work to do for the scientist to determinate this very interesting and beautiful fishes.
