This image though is so befitting of the young people at this festival and I only noted in the background is a Navy Vessel returning after 8 months of overseas duty. Bet there are a lot of happy families seeing their loved ones back home as well.
Peace Week is the only festival of its kind celebrated in Australia supported by Local Government, to commemorate the UNESCO International Decade for a Culture of Peace. This unique community festival offers the opportunity for people of all cultural, social, physical, spiritual, creative and ideological backgrounds to come together to help create a culture of peace by building compassion and understanding in the community. Cairns Regional Council facilitates Peace Week to connect people and create a more cohesive community and build better relationships between community and Council.
