i have no idea! I asked some people who didn't know, but they speculated that it was NOT a beauty contest. I guessed Dove ad? There was a camera crew and two people were going around standing on either side of a girl. I will try to do some investigating . . .

Heh, maybe they're auditioning to model that bikini on Rav...

PS in the thumbnail I thought this was another clone shot, and I thought, ok, there's comfortable taking wacky pictures of yourself in public, and then there's COMFORTABLE with taking wacky pictures of yourself in public.

it could be How to Look Good Naked. they do lots of line up comparisons like this, though usually indoors. :)
still, how cool!

I thought this was a clone shot in the thumbnail, too! Weirdness. I really want to know what was going on here with the matching bikinis.

ha! i didn't even "see" the cloniness of this shot. yeah, no. not me. I bet Julie's right.

I too thought it was a clone shot, and I was thinking that you just went one step out of your mind with clone shots :)

Me, too--I though it was a clone shot in the thumbnail. Probably not the best timing for you in your clone week. :)

I realize thumbnails aren't super clear, but now I'm wondering how I might be fat and skinny all in the same shoot . . .

Well, I wasn't looking that closely--I just saw a bunch of identical bathing suits.

lauren*o  Pro User  says:

I also thought it was a clone shot - I guess the body size differences don't really show up in the thumbnail. I did notice that it was women in bathing suits in a park, though, and I thought you had done some insane bikini in the park clone shot.

Dove ad isn't a bad guess, but honestly, the big ladies I've seen in those dove ads are not that big... They're like, my size. Now I'm curious.

I totally thought the same thing when glancing at the thumbnail. I was actually disappointed when I opened the photo and it was not Minty being wacky and getting her clone on because that would have been funny. This is... interesting?

what the? I guess we'll find out soon enough what was going on.
In the thumbnail, they all look the same size. I thought it was another clone too.

I noticed some size difference in the thumbnail, but glancing quickly, I thought it was a persepective thing.

God. Just when I get to a point where I think, eh, men aren't that bad; maybe I should have coffee with some of them, I go and read a comments section like that and immediately retreat to my radical feminist collective.

I'm not entirely sure you have to be a radical feminist to be offended by assholes like that. I'm going to go calm down now.

I get the feeling that there are a lot of bored teenage boys on gothamist. Lots and lots. Bored and lonely. And quite sad.

I think, unfortunately, that's much of the Internet as a whole. Sometimes it's easier to for commenters to come up with snarky comments fast than to delve into other areas and question situation. But sometimes they exhibit empathy.

you're very right.i didn't mean to cast gothamist with a negative brush. I think the potential for anonymity on that forum makes this a bit more easy. (I also think some of it is funny, but then I haven't checked in a few hours.)

Last night in the shower (where it always happens) I finally thought out what I wanted to say to those gothamist posters:

Well, we can certainly see who's showing their ass here, huh?

mintyfreshflavor  Pro User  says:

Well, let's also remember that they agreed to pose in a bikini in the middle of a park. I'm not saying that the comments aren't cruel, but they had to have been braced for the public's reaction.
Posted 17 months ago. ( permalink )

doggedknits  Pro User  says:

Well, they definitely didn't ask to be put on Gothamist for people to savage. And trust me when I tell you, as someone who is moderately overweight, no one needs to be standing in a bikini in the middle of the park to get that kind of commentary directed at them.

I think there's no cause to be as mean about how these women look as the posters on Gothamist have been.

Also, call me an idealist, but women aren't around for the purpose of giving men something to judge. That shit sucks.
