Who knew I could look so ruggedly outdoorsy? (I'm standing next to the car, by the way, and that's a warehouse in the background.)
This photo has also been used to accompany my interview with Nora Young for CBC Radio's tech-and-society show "Spark," linked up at my site.
By the way, I took this and the later photos in this set with an old, inexpensive 1995-era Quantaray 70-210 mm zoom lens (made in Japan, probably by Sigma), which I bought on my honeymoon, several Nikon cameras ago. Quantaray is the house brand of Ritz Cameras in the U.S., and has a pretty shabby reputation for lens quality. But I have always liked this particular lens, which is well built, and its lovely fuzzy-background bokeh.
See my blog post about the original pic.
