I've been experimenting with different types of processing on these Great Wall pictures, hence the heavily-edited look.

I really love the warm, rich, saturated tones here. I think it adds a very nostalgic mood. I don't, however, feel this image needs such a strong vignette. The strong linear composition is already quite capable of drawing my eyes into the frame. And the aerial perspective (graduated lighting of the hills) kind of 'opposes' the vignetting IMHO.

Just my opinions. It is truly beautiful capture. Well done! Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

- Thank you for your honest opinion and critique. I can definitely see where you are coming from, regarding the vignette perhaps not fitting with the image. The reason I chose it was because the sky was so bland by itself that I felt the image needed a little framing. If you'll notice, most of my other Great Wall shots have some sort of framing to combat the dull sky. Perhaps a lighter vignette would have been more appropriate. Thanks again!

I imagine you visited the Badaling section of the Great Wall where most tourists visit. I wanted to stay as far away from there as possible. I went on a Wednesday and was told that on a weekend there might be 10 tourists on the section we were on. We saw only 2 others! (In the next photo I posted, however, you'll see that we did run into a few other people working on the wall).

Great DOF here, knowing it was a JPEG compressed but still has so much details.

Guess it was a cloudy time, and you still had the EV set low, and tricked your lens to capture such a brilliant DOF. Waav! Jus amazing.
