Technical:8 - Wonderful use of available light. I might have compensated -.5 to -1 more on the light reduce the harshness of the ligh from the white wall.
Composition: 8 - Great use of his natural habitat. You framed the subject very effectively.
Eye Appeal: 8 - the only thing that would make this better would be to slightly reduce the harshness of the light. The photo is gritty and and excellent street photo. The man's character shines though.
Commercial Viability: 8 - This could find its way into a gallery or a magazine very easily. It is a high appeal shot.

Technical: 7
The image is sharp and the tones of the subject are well captured. The wall behind the fisherman is overexposed and a bit of a distraction.
Composition: 8 I like the composition and where the fisherman is placed in the image.
Eye Appeal: 7
Great example of street photography and the only distraction is the bright white wall.
Commercial Viability: 6
The image could have some commercial viability in an advertisement on the plight of the homeless or even as a fine Art print if it was worked in Photoshop to reduce the brightness of the white wall.

Technical: 7
The wall is too overexposed. If you could bring back some of the detail and texture, I think it would tie the whole photo together.
Composition: 8
Very nice. I like where you put the fisherman in the photo.
Eye Appeal: 7
The bright white wall keeps distracting me, but when I focus on the details in the image, it holds my attention
Commercial Viability: 6 as it is now, 8 if you fix the wall-would make a great print.

I like the composition of the picture, the wall in the back ground is overexposed and distracting, the black and white is great for this photo, I like the detail in his face.

Really, really like his face, the shoes, the holes in the wall, and "vinho blanco." I applaud your choice to leave all that space on the left. It's brave. A picture like this sticks with you much more than all those "correct" pictures that would have gotten more "commercial viability" in your other group, and I think those people are wrong. This has a very good commercial viability.... It is actually right where things are, right now, I feel. If he had a pretty face, it could be an ad for trendy jeans.

Rather good portrait, i would say.
I'm not sure there is a need for such wide background here.
i would prefer to see a tighter crop, with hands and face of this man.
Also, background doesn't show that he is a fisherman.. if you think this is important, it would be better to show it visually.

Good capture. I like his face and the detail in the things around him. Except the wall behind him - it's so bright it makes me squint. Super high contrast is part of it I think. His face is so much the focus that bokutarik's crop suggestion might make sense, despite losing some of those great "accessories"

+ points : great subject, very interesting personnage there. Also quite "brave" of you to take the picture there as it is not always easy to take picture of homeless people. The composition works very well, i do agree with those who say that it is good to show some parts on the left of him, it give idea of what suronding him. The face of the homeless is extremly sharp and really show how his past and present life has been hard on him (and his skin)!
- points : definitely the way overexposed wall. It really distracts me, it shocks the eyes and stops you from focusing on what is really important on the picture. Some photoshop treatment to soften the wall would be good i think. The wall is so overexposed that it does not have any texture anymore. a shame as it looks like on old painted wall which could have interacted with the old man.

Striking image - it's more than just a portrait, it is a representation of a way of life. So the cardboard, the blankets etc serve a function, and should stay - please do not crop! I find that blowing the wall actually works by omitting unnecessary details - very much like when one blows a sky to turn it into a blank backdrop - and then it was probably necessary to bring out the details in the main subject. Very well done, kudos!

this is a very nice capture. i really like the contrast levels. it brings out the man's facial features and the shadows. maybe slightly overexposed. the composition is not quite right. i'm not sure if i like the suggested crop, either, as it seems a bit too tight. maybe something in between. nice job, over all.

i love this. i know some people have been commenting on the overexposed wall but it doesnt ruin anything as his face is perfectly exposed. and i like it that way. almost like it doesnt end. the tonal range is tough here - did you play with it in channel mixing? i love the crop you have and wouldnt change it - gives the subject context. beautiful texture and expression.

From the MiRea's Realm Group, you are given a 7/7 ranking.

I like this shot, it conveys the message. Two 'little' comments though.

1. I think it could have been a bit less exposed. The man's 'rugged' features would have come out more and the wall would have retained some aspects.

2 It doesn't distract too much, and there may have been other things there that you wanted out of the shot, but I'd have preferred it if you hadn't cut his foot off! The battered old boots would add to the story being told.

From the MiRea's Realm Group, you are given a 6/7 ranking.

PS After posting, I read the other comments. Definately disagree re the crop, it's because of the cardboard box etc that the 'homeless' angle comes through. I think it is really well framed as it is.
