I agree with The exposure comment, although so difficult, black subject bright day etc. but you've captured the doggy quite well - and having looked at the original version the picture clearly suffers from being shrunk so much

It's hard to ignore the exposure issue -- it's clearly a problem. I also see that, while the rest of the photo is sharp, the focus zone doesn't quite extend to his noise. Still, it's a nice shot.

Backdrop is totally blown out, probably because the dog is black, try to be more careful with the exposure, the dog doesn't seem really sharp either.
