Not sure if you were aiming for the overexposure of a huge amount of the picture or not, but it doesn't work for me. Score 7/10 (from the Score Me! group)
The background is hugely overexposed but it's a worthwhile sacrifice to get detail on the artists face and on the painting. Attractive composition, the arch frames the painter and his work nicely. #1(from the IWANT5! group) ** My 'Best of the 5' **
I like the theme "picture inside another picture" and you did it very well. I like the lighted background and the colours together. graças amigo meu porque me convidado a este grupo. :)
I think your picture is one of the best of a painter at work that I've found on Flickr. I would like to use it on my website with attribution and a link back to your photo gallery. Thanks!

I agree with sugar-spun-sister: clearly the center bit is blown, but it does drag your eye right to his painting.

The blown out background is a nice effect to spotlight the artist. Great find!

the blown out background indeed adds a special elemnt to the picture. i however, somehow dont feel comfortable seeing the arches behind the easel.

I like the way you tweaked the brightness to wash out everything but the stone and the painter.
