Once over the mountain tops, the morning sun races across Death Valley and these Mesquite Dunes. What appears to be white tiles are layers ofBorax. These provide a fixture for plant roots and host a complex microcosm. I was fascinated by the amount of life in this inhospitable furnace.
Yowzer! #1 in interestingness. Your comments and favorites are very much appreciated and a great introduction to so many fine photographers!
This scene sat on my plate for a long time. So many elements I didn't want to leave behind, but was unsure of the final composition. A fresh start brought the relief of finally getting it out the door. So, it's especially nice to get such positive feedback!
Thank you all!
