Opposition of Jupiter with Milky Way
The Milky Way provides a dramatic visual background to the starry night sky with Jupiter. June 5, Jupiter was at it's greatest opposition from the Sun and hence the closest distance to us. It is exceedingly bright over the next day or two. In fact tonight and tomorrow it will be at it's brightest visibility.

this is great! I posted a couple of star shots directly below this one on a thread on Night Images that are not bad for my camera but do not have anywhere near the detail in this one. Good work......(I need a new camera)

This reminds me of the first time I caught an image of the milkyway on color slide film. Given enough time the camera can show us so much more that is up there that we overlook. This will be my first favorite. ( I'm new to Flickr)

do you use any computer system to take multiple short exposures and put them on top of each other or is this all in one exposure
Computer Science Geek (39 months ago | reply)
I do often stack multiple photos using DeepSkyStacker. I use an intervalometer when I make multiple exposures and often in conjunction with a tracking mount.
