San Francisco Holiday Lights

San Francisco Holiday Lights

As I mentioned in my previous post the last photo trip for 2011 was in San Francisco. So I decided to start my first picture for 2012 from my favorite city. I went to treasure island along with my friend Sudheer to shoot the skyline. I have always wanted to capture a panoroma of the city's skyline with the holiday lights. I hope you all like it :)

This is a stitch of 5 shots. Please see the larger version for more details.

Once again a very Happy and Prosperous New Year to all of you!!!

Golden gate from Marshall's beach

Golden gate from Marshall's beach

This is my last photo trip for 2011. It was a great one since I spent the evening shooting besides Aaron Reed. It was supposed to be low tide but once we got near the water it didn't seem like it. Thanks to Aaron for teaching me how to shoot in knee high waves at near freezing temparature:) Here is Aaron's shot . I think his looks way better than mine :)

Golden gate at Twilight

Golden gate at Twilight

My cousin is here for the weekend so I took her to San Francisco. We made the usual stops Twin Peaks, Lombard Street, Embarcadero, Chinatown etc and our final stop was Golden Gate. We were planning to be there for Sunset but thanks to the traffic in SF we got there just after Sunset. When we reached Fort Point the sky still had some nice colors, I have never shot from this location so didn't want to waste the opportunity, I quickly grabbed by tripod jumped over the fence got down near the water and took this shot. Hope you all like it.

Update: Fixed the horizon line.

Sunset in the Valley

Sunset in the Valley

Last weekend I had gone on a day trip to Yosemite national park with Lisa Moore and Aaron Reed. We were hoping for some snow on the ground but as you can see from the picture there was no snow whatsoever. Even though most of the day was gloomy in the evening things started to improve and we got some good light. I am sure most of you would have seen the much better version by Aaron Reed if not you should definitely check it out here.

Update: This picture made it to Explore on Nov 22nd, 2011

Pfeiffer Beach

Pfeiffer Beach

Taken on Nov 5th 2011.

Yesterday me and my wife decided to go for a driver on Pacific Coast Highway 1. We went to Santa Cruz and the drove all the way down to Big sur. My wife loves this beach so we decided to go there for Sunset, but unfortunately the storm moved in and the Sun was behind a thick blanket of clouds but we still decided to go. Once we got there I was hoping there would be a small gap in the clouds so that the sun could take a peek but I was out of luck so I decided to do a long exposure shot. I am hoping to catch the sun rays passing through this portal sometime this winter. If anyone is interested to go with me to this spot on weekends let me know :)
