Pencils and Moleskines 04

Another view of one of my favorite pencils from Japan. This one's made by the Mitsubishi Pencil Co. and it's part of a set they launched a few years ago. The novelty here is that, besides being a great pencil, the barrels are made exclusively from wood from the oak kegs used by the Suntory distillery. That silver ring halfway up the shaft is engraved "Pure Malt". I'm showing it here on a Moleskine plain cahier and my Moleskine ruled notebook.

I have a few pencils from Japan. They do make really fun and functional pens and pencils over there, don't they?

    3. Paul Worthington (90 months ago | reply)

The Japanese really make fun and functional everything, it seems, not just pens and pencils. But these were such a pleasant surprise, and I'm liking them more the more I use them.

We just got in the regular Pure Malt series. But I like the premium Oak series very much, they just came out w/ a new multi-pen for this high end line in Japan too..

Hi Eric. Thanks for your comment. I like how you used my photo. As for publishing, I usually prefer not to allow it if the published work is to be sold for profit, but I handle each request individually. If you're seriously planning to publish, send me FlickrMail and we can discuss details.

Thank you for this great picture (and thank you for licensing this CC). I used it in a presentation (non commercial) about knowledge management tools used in software development to students of the Fachhochschule Wien. It was the perfect motivation picture for the topic "Taking Notes". Thanks again.
