I wish our two would eat those handy jars. Fussy pair!

What do you feed them? Leah eats pretty much anything but we are trying to get her eating less jar-food and more what-mom-and-dad eat (though no curries yet... alas.)

Feeding isn't their strong point. Even drinking's gone a bit funny of late with Jessica refusing all milk. We tend to give them porridge and fruit for breakfast, and daytime things like soft cheese on bread, yoghurts, and recipes Debs has found in Annabel Karmel's book. Oh, and fish fingers. :)

As you saw on the video though, they can be fussy and refuse things they would usually lap up like jelly and cream. We're a way off having them eat the same stuff as us, and they've always been a bit slow to try things. My chillies and curries might blow their minds a bit right now.

Funny thing is, they've always flat out refused any jar based food apart from deserts. It's a pain when you're out during the day, travelling or away, as we limit ourselves to things like cheese, scrambled egg and fruit.

I've got news for you, Jim - it wont be their minds that will be blown by curry and chillies!

Leah seems to be saying 'Make sure you full up the trolley!'

You should let her help herself from your plates - generally if their hands can pick something up unaided they should be able to manage it without choking (eg, they develop the pincer grasp needed to pick up something small like a pea at approx 9 months - at the same age they are able to eat it). Google baby led weaning. Worked great for us - the kids (Em in particular - Mikey had a lot of jars while we were emigrating) eat almost anything we do, and have never had a choking incident :) Naturally we don't let them eat unsupervised....

Thanks for the advice Meg. Leah had her first shrimp today, took them out of Fi's plate and started munching away. Oddly she liked the hard tails quite a bit. She also had her first fish-fingers for lunch.
