I love this :-) Wuddel: the light is very bright compared with everything else which is why, even thought it's moving, you can still see it. You can see the room because it was there for the whole 27 minute exposure. The roomba on the other hand was moving the whole time and so didn't stay in one place long enough to show up.

You can use the same technique to (for example) remove the people from a busy street scene -- a long exposure means that only those that didn't move *or didn't move much) appear in the final image...

Ah you went for the super long exposure :) In response to your comment on mine, I had some ambient light still. A long exposure would have blown everything out...

Side effect is the path isn't continuous due to the 1/2 secondish lag between exposures. Yours is a nice smooth line :)
