This brings back a lot of memories for me. My mother made fruit preserve and placed them on these jars .

Cool jars. If only we had enough storage space in our kitchen....
I see photos of nice things here in your Flickr site. Things I see in brocante fairs here in Switzerland. Wonderful stuff!

diamonds_in_the_soles_of_her_shoes: They are good memories! My grandmother filled them with foods like watermelon rind pickles and fig preserves.
jayred: Finding enough storage in my kitchen requires some creativity, too! Why do builders make them so small?! :0)

Love those old jars! Hope you don't mind if I used them on my blog. Totally suited the theme.

I used your pic in my blog, too. :) I love your jars; mine are unfortunately all much newer.

Thanks, Mirawyn! Can you post a link here so I can check it out?

Thank you! I enjoyed reading your entry and will share the story with my students. We've been discussing "reduce, reuse, recycle," but I hadn't made the canning jar connection. Thanks for reminding me of some fun mason jar memories and for giving me a useful object lesson!
