You got a lotta splainin' to do Lucy! Did it it miss a train? Did it lose an election; I'm guessing it's dead?
Not unlike turkey vultures and pelicans, these birds always look so scruffy/akward when not in flight; I think it's a combination between relatively short tail and long wings. I see them a lot sitting on phone poles, with the classic acorn-silhouette; their feathers never seem to sit neatly.
Nice shot: I love raptors. I'm just leaving to shoot some nesting red-shouldered hawks. Beautiful but noisy!
