I live in Montreal, and it's starting to pop up all over the place behind my house. Each plant has a single squishy stem and shallow roots. It seems to like moist areas, especially around where the ferns are growing.

Looks like jewelweed to me, orange or yellow blossoms, likes wet areas, and the little seed pods were fun to "pop" when I was a kid. ;)

Fleep, I've never seen them flowering (this is my first year at this house), so I'm going to keep an eye out for that. But they definitely look like those pictures you shared of jewelweed. What a beautiful name for a plant, too. :)
