the space next to them on the counter says "we got no service because we make it a habit of writing on counters in ketchup."
galapogos [deleted] (71 months ago | reply)
And if the waiter had to clean the counter and not the busboy, this would be an effective punishment. And cleaned up quickly enough, the people who should know about this problem (like the manager) will never get the message either.
funkeemunkeeland (71 months ago | reply)
Although I have those same feelings I have to side with famous too. it was probably the bus boy that cleaned that up and management was clueless to the assclown wait staff that ignored them.

hold on a sec here. "Punishment?" for what? we don't know what was going on here. suspend your suspension people! they drew on the counter-top with the condiments! you think that's bad ass or something? bet-your-bugaboo that there's a better way!
what? you don't care about 'better?' you want to have fun, like you're entitled to?
great photo!

I would bet my life that the dynamic of commenters with the love/hate opinions could clearly be relative to the upper class/working class.
If you've worked customer service jobs you know that no one just sits there and wants to intentionally piss off paying customers and that there was probably some reason that they were busy.
And if you've ever known entitled assholes that would do something like that, you would know that they think that they really do have the right to be cleaned up after by other people 24/7.
Assholes.

LOL! Fantastic! That's what I'm gonna do next time.
ohnochriso (70 months ago | reply)
I hope their next waiter or waitress pisses in their food!
nogoodreason (70 months ago | reply)
If it was my job to clean this up, I'd laugh constantly throughout.
Yes, the manager probably never saw this... but over 3,000 people around the world did, and that, my friend, makes it art. ^^
spazbhoy (70 months ago | reply)
Working class vs. upper class? That's BS. I've been to enough restaurants to sympathize with a busy server but somehow I get the impression that wasn't the case here.
The server was obviously clueless enough to not even notice customers at the DINER COUNTER taking the time to write out a full sentence in condiments. I highly doubt he/she was providing attentive service and was just too busy for 30 minutes.
It's happened to me enough times to tick me off so I love this!
Midol Girl (70 months ago | reply)
30 min? That's nothing, have any of you been to any of the Vegan/Vegetarrian restaurants in Vancouver BC? Haha or any restaurant in this city for that matter? 30 minutes is a treat!

I'm middle class and worked in restaurants for 15 years--and I think this photo is AWESOME. I agree with nogoodreason, above--if I'd had to clean this up, I'd be laughing, too.

wow, they figured out a way to waste food AND be rude and spiteful AND waste someone's time cleaning it, all in a single blow!
ah yes, the typical "plant yer ass down and expect to be treated like royalty by mind-reading robots" type of customer - you get them a lot in America, heaven forbid piping up or giving a whistle to alert anyone they are ready. not when it's more fun to do something like this instead.
Miciah (69 months ago | reply)
ps. i still find it amusing

This looks like it is at the counter... There totally should have been someone on the waitstaff viewing this or walking by and noticing. Either way they should have been AKNOWLEDGED by someone.
athomemomblog (68 months ago | reply)
The worst part is that the waitress who ignored them probably just grumbled about the mess rather than getting the message.

Thirty minutes is too long to wait for the caliber of retard who would frequent such an establishment. All is right in the world. And please nuke that place.

Tatathomas (65 months ago | reply)
They actually waited 30 minutes? The food can't be that good.
steaphan101 (65 months ago | reply)
What is worse, that they had to wait 30 minutes for service or that they had enough time to write that full message on the table without any attention from staff whatsoever ?!
rspectacular (64 months ago | reply)
Eh as a waitress I would rather have to clean that up then some people complaining to my manager about no service.
Call Me Daddy (62 months ago | reply)
i agree with whomever wrote this.. had this happened in my restaurant, the server would have been reprimanded... there's no excuse for making a customer wait that long... WAY TO GO!
Call Me Daddy (62 months ago | reply)
ebarrebarr.......... by the way.. i'm just a working class joe.. lower middle class i have had nothing handed to me and don't think i should
mars1972x [deleted] (61 months ago | reply)
I can go either way with this...At the end of the day, the customer makes the choice where they go next time; and some places could really care less if they lose a customer or two.

At some point in your life - probably around 10 to 12 years old - when you suck at something you are aware of it. Crappy service doesn't just happen, the server knows they are failing. If they don't know they get what they deserve and that is grief - Period. I have heard the stories for years from servers and waitpersons that nobody respects their job. If you don't like it quit.

While I don't agree on the message, have to say that in one kind of way this looks quite nice. If you think of this writing as typography it looks much more artistic than just a dirt on the table.
