Stove Cake

Stove Cake

Inspired by the wonderful "Bun in the Oven" style cakes posted on-line, although I think this ended up being more appropriate for someone who enjoys cooking, not someone who's about to have a baby!
Made by stacking four 8" squares.
The back is Rice Krispie Treats (pre-made, perfect thickness) glued to cardboard using melted chocolate.
The oven door is cardboard covered in fondant and it was held in place by three toothpicks. For added stability, I glued a short dowel to the underside, behind the striped dishcloth.

The tiny letters on the *Le Creuset* pot took an obscene amount of time, but once I made the "L" I was committed to finishing...if I ever attempt it again though, I should be committed, LOL!!

Fondant Accessories for Stove Cake

Fondant Accessories for Stove Cake

I used a 1/3c. as a mold to make the pot, then re-shaped it oval after I popped it out (the lid was separate).
For the burners, I cut out gray circles using the plastic cap (from a pill bottle) that you see in the corner.

Fondant Accessories for Diaper Bag Cake

Fondant Accessories for Diaper Bag Cake

Baby powder and wipes (travel) case are Rice Krispie treats. The bottle was made with chocolate candy melts and a mold.
I used edible markers to write on the bib and powder (which I freehanded while flat, then wrapped around the form).
Everything made with marshmallow fondant (tylose added to some pieces).

Tote Bag Cake

Tote Bag Cake

Design is based on a straw-basketweave tote I saw on-line.
Made by stacking four 9" oval layers and carving the sides in.
To create the woven look, I used an extruder to make fondant braids in two sizes. The smaller, skinnier ones I placed sideways.
I also used slightly different tones of brown to mimic the real thing.
The handles gave me some trouble and I ended up having to attach the rings to the pink flaps instead of above them like originally planned.
