Quartier Quiz

Choosing a favourite Paris quartier is a pretty tricky undertaking.

Where do you think this is? I'll give you a clue. It's either... Butte aux Cailles, Latin Quarter, Montmartre, Montparnasse, the Marais or Passy.

Did you guess? I'll give you a clue: it's my second most popular photo tour location and is right in the heart of the city. And the winner is... Rue de la Harpe, part of a little knot of cute but tourist (and photographer) infested streets in the 5th arrondissement.

Talking of quartiers, did you know that as well as the vaguer popular quarter names such as the Latin Quarter, Montmartre and the Marais, there is a much more precise system of quartiers? Rue de la Harpe is in the Sorbonne quartier, which is one of four in the 5th arrondissement, as with all the arrondissements.

The others in the 5th, as a matter of interest, are the probably unfamiliar Saint-Victor, Jardin-des-Plantes and Val-de-Grâce quarters. These are not in common use though except for administrative purposes.

I've been looking for a definitive map of all these official Paris quarters for a long time, so if you know of one, do let me know.
