I wonder if this could be something coming down the pipeline; look at the iPhone and how Steve touted the completely touch-screen UI as being malleable depending on how things change down the road. What if keyboards went this route, so we could make these kinds of modifications ourselves? I hope I'm not getting too ridiculously speculative here, but being able to make these changes ourselves, perhaps even contextually based on which app or site we're using at any given time (say, a giant J for Google Reader, but other keys could enlarge if you switch to working in After Effects, GarageBand or Photoshop), could bring an entirely new level of productivity to our computing.

I just had an idea.. how about a big red button like the "Easy Button" in those Staples commercials, it could connect through USB and be programmable to any key or mouse click. :-) Hell I might would put mine on the floor so I could just click it with my foot! One for the S key might be good too, although I probably star more articles than I should already.

Foot switch, to give your hands a rest. :) Oh wait, I can already place a programmable joystick on the floor.
