I do not think that the leaves are aware of their falling. In fact, I like to think of the leaves much the same as the skin of a snake and in the fall, the tree simply sheds it's cover to make way for a fresh one in the spring.

I don't know........just my thought! ;))))

the leaf that falls is also the beginning of new life ... Without this "sacrifice" the cycle of life stops.
