IMG_6729-Star trails at Mount Pinos

Mt. Pinos, California star trails. Single star in the lower left middle of the image is the North Star, Polaris, around which other stars appear to rotate due to the natural rotation of the Earth on its axis. Lights on the horizon from the Bakersfield, CA area. Colors on the right side are part of our Milky Way. Single image taken with a Canon 10D, tripod mounted 28-135 mm lens, remote shutter release. This is probably the easiest type of "astrophotography" you can do at home (but it REALLY helps if you are at a dark site!).
