This is a variety of bamboo. I too like the colours; colours of autumn, as they say. We do not have an autumn season, though. It was peak summer!

Ravages - you are right. But Chennai does have many places like this: IIT campus, MCC Campus, Raj Bhavan, Guindy Wildlife Park, Kalakshetra, Boat Club, KFI School, Theosophical Society and perhaps others I do not know about.
